Almost thirty thousand passengers use the University of Georgia transit system. Unpredictable traffic, passenger unload/load times, and mechanical problems lead to students and faculty being late to their destinations. We propose a low-cost solution that will enhance public information by allowing for real-time information regarding the transportation system.

An electrostatic space charge system (ESCS) was developed by the Southeast Poultry Research Lab in cooperation with Simco Co. and BioIon Inc. to reduce airborne dust and microorganisms in poultry areas. When used in areas with moderately high dust levels, essential components of ESCS become coated with dust, which gradually reduce the efficiency of the operation. To alleviate the situation, the ESCS discharge points and ground plane are typically cleaned once or twice a week with nylon brush. There is interest in the development of an automated cleaning system for frequent cleaning to maintain efficiency when ESCS is used for extended periods of time.
